Mairbek Khasiev explained his words to Khamzat Chimaev

The head of the ACA league, Mairbek Khasiev, who two days earlier criticized the recent fight between Hamzat Chimaev and Kamaru Usman, said that his words about the Chechen fighter’s performance at UFC 294 in Abu Dhabi were misinterpreted.

The corresponding statement of the head of the organization was published on social networks ACA.

“Answering questions at the press conference, I gave my opinion based on the fights I saw,” Khasiev said. “The first round of the fight was one-sided in favor of Khamzat, and the last two were weaker, but also in favor of Chimaev. Chimaev broke his finger in the first round, and that drastically reduces the ability to take the fight to his opponent”

“Besides, I have only seen the last five fights, and if you judge by all the other fights of the tournament, which I watched later on social networks, there are a lot of fights that are not next to the Chimaev-Usman fight, and they can be safely listed as the worst. Chimaev deservedly took his fight to a victorious end. And if it wasn’t for a hand injury that didn’t allow him to fight at full strength, I’m sure he would have been able to finish the fight early”

“If anyone thinks that I have a biased attitude towards Chimaev, you are deeply mistaken. By the way, Khamzat is a modest and decent guy, as a Muslim should be. He has shown it many times in personal meetings. I hope that after the upcoming UFC title fight the belt will be at our house”

Recall that the challenger fight in the middleweight division between Khamzat Chimaev and Kamaru Usman passed all three rounds and ended with the victory of “Borz” by a majority of judges’ votes. The next opponent of the undefeated Chechen will be American Sean Strickland, who is the current champion of the division.
