Russian fighter Magomed Magomedkerimov, who won the PFL welterweight grand prix for the second time, is ready to move to the next level and take the Bellator championship belt away from Jamaican representative Jason Jackson, who will be his next opponent.
“I’m very happy that my opponent will be the Bellator champion,” the Russian said in an interview with MMAJunkie. “This is a new challenge for me. I’ve fought everyone in the PFL already, and I’m interested to show my strength with other opponents from another promotion. I’ve won sixteen fights in the PFL, and I’m looking for something more interesting – I want to get to the next level. I’m looking forward to taking the Bellator championship belt from Jason Jackson”
Magomed Magomedov won the PFL welterweight championship belt in the final event of the season with a guillotine choke finish of Sweden’s Sadiba Sy, while Jason Jackson took the Bellator title from Yaroslav Amosov a week earlier by knocking out the Ukrainian in the third round.
A joint event between the organizations, in which the champions will compete, was announced after PFL management officially announced the purchase of the Bellator MMA league, which will continue to exist independently for the time being.
