Magomed Ankalaev: “I will be a champion for a long time!”

The vacant UFC Light Heavyweight Championship contender, Magomed Ankalaev, shared his thoughts on the upcoming fight with Jan Blachowicz, which was declared a title fight after the reigning division champion, Jiří Prochazka, suffered an injury and vacated the title.

“I feel good – a championship fight is expected, very important, so the mood is good,” the Russian fighter said in an interview with The Schmo. “Of course, I am very happy, I did not expect this. Suddenly they offered a five-round fight, and of course I agreed. Nothing has changed, the opponent is the same, just the number of rounds has increased and the belt is at stake. Therefore, there is nothing to lose – only forward!

“At first I was offered to fight for the belt with Teixera, and without hesitation, I agreed. We waited for the moment, but then we changed the opponent again and brought Jan Blachowicz back. I don’t know why Glover refused to fight, this question is better to ask him, but I’m on the rise, at the peak, so I think not everyone wants to fight me. Becoming a UFC champion is my dream, I’m almost there and looking forward to this day to fight for the belt and take it home. Soon I will win this title and be a champion for a long time.

Recall that the championship fight between Magomed Ankalaev and Jan Blachowicz will be the main event of the UFC 282 tournament, which will be held on December 10 in Las Vegas.
