Magomed Ankalaev addressed the fans

Two days after failing to capture the vacant UFC title against Jan Blachowicz, Russian light heavyweight Magomed Ankalaev turned to his fans, thanking them for their support and vowing to stay on target.

“It is difficult to describe in words the feelings that I experience these days,” the Russian wrote on a social network. “Together with the team, we have been moving towards this goal for many years. Probably, my life path is arranged in such a way that nothing comes easily to me, but I always know where and why I am going. I know and believe that there is good in everything and this is no exception.

“I will not look for the guilty, I will prove it with deeds and will do everything to win this belt without giving the judges the opportunity to make decisions. I receive a huge number of calls, messages with words of support addressed to me, for which I want to say a big thank you to everyone who was sick and worried! For me, the recognition of your hearts is much more important than what is written on paper.

“I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who is involved in my path in this sport. The goal has no statute of limitations, and we will definitely come back better and stronger!”

Recall that the fight between Ankalaev and Blachowicz, who headlined the UFC 282 tournament in Las Vegas last weekend, went the whole distance and ended in a draw by a separate judicial decision. At a post-event press conference, UFC president Dana White announced that the vacant light heavyweight championship will be contested by Brazilian Glover Teixeira and American Jamal Hill on January 21 at UFC 283 in Rio de Janeiro.
