Luke Rockhold left the UFC

Former Strikeforce and UFC middleweight champion Luke Rockhold is no longer a top league fighter in the world.

According to the American, he asked the organization to release him from the current contract, according to which he had to hold a few fights, and his request was granted.

“I asked them for freedom to be able to do other things, and they gave it to me,” Rockhold said in the next edition of the MMA Hour program. “Now I have the opportunity to box, fight elsewhere”

Rohold, 38, said he is currently exploring all possible options.

In 2013, Luke Rockhold moved to the UFC after the takeover of Strikeforce and spent eleven fights in the organization, scoring six wins and suffering five losses. In August last year, the American fighter resumed his career after a three-year break, losing in three spectacular rounds to the Brazilian Paulo Costa by unanimous decision. Before that, Rockhold suffered two early defeats in a row, losing by knockouts to Yoel Romero and Jan Blachowicz.
