Age-old Cuban heavyweight Luis “King Kong” Ortiz (33-2, 28 KOs) doesn’t think his rivalry with American Deontay Wilder (42-2-1, 41 KOs) is over, despite the fact that 2018-19 was over. he twice lost to him ahead of schedule in fights for the WBC world title.
Ortiz is scheduled to take on former world champion Andy Ruiz on September 4, and organizers at Premier Boxing Champions are rumored to be planning to match the winner with Wilder.
Cuban coach Herman Caicedo confirmed the readiness of the ward for such a scenario
“He (Ortiz) isn’t 100% sure that’s what PBC has in mind, but it looks like it. I would say that it is possible,” said Caicedo. “Ultimately, if tomorrow he is told to fight Wilder 40 times every week, he will do just that. He has no problem fighting Wilder three or five or ten times. This is what he does for a living and what he will do until he becomes world heavyweight champion. That remains his goal and the driving force behind it all.”
It is noteworthy that earlier Ruiz also announced his desire to fight Wilder.
