Santa Marta, Colombia. Ex-world champion native of Jamaica, 37-year-old Nicholas “Lumberjack” Walters (27-1-1, 21 KOs) resumed his career and had his first fight since 2016 – he beat a local journiman
Luis Diaz Marmola (19-17, 11 KOs).

At the weigh-in, both showed almost 64 kg. The puncher was the featherweight champion (up to 57.2 kg). In the last fight held, he capitulated in a fight with Ukrainian Vasily Lomachenko – he failed to take away the WBO title in 59 kg, lost “on a stool”.

Fight Walters vs Marmol turned out to be competitive. The underdog was in excellent physical shape, but was inferior to the favorite in technical equipment and experience. According to eyewitnesses, Walters looked very solid (apparently, as for a fighter who had not been in the ring for almost 7 years), controlled the course of the fight, and brought him to a confident victory.

The score of the judges: 80-72 and twice 78-74.

Walters UD 8.
