WBC Lightweight mandatory contender Vassily Lomachenko (16-2, 11 KOs) is set to take on the winner of the October rematch between undisputed champion Devin Haney (28-0, 15 KOs) and George Kambosos (20-1, 10 KOs). So says the head of Matchroom Boxing Eddie Hearn.

Lomachenko intends to fight no later than October, Top Rank said.

As the mandatory challenger, Lomachenko could have claimed a title shot in the fall ahead of Kambosos, but that almost certainly won’t happen.

Stevenson: Lomachenko and I should fight

“I think Haney will have a rematch with Kambosos and I’m guessing Lomachenko will fight the winner of that fight,” Hearn said.

Top Rank President Todd Duboff thinks Lomachenko will agree to fight Haney.
