Leon Edwards is the man to beat in the UFC’s welterweight division, but there’s one name he’s still fixated on getting a win over.

Edwards, perhaps not surprising, would love to resolve his dispute with Jorge Masvidal. The two have had a rivalry dating back to March 2019, when both fighters competed at a UFC event in London. After the conclusion of the event, Edwards and Masvidal were involved in a physical confrontation backstage, better known as the “Three Piece and a Soda” incident.

Edwards recently appeared on The Breakfast Club, where he assured that the feud with Masvidal is not over.

“Not with him,” Edwards answered when asked if it’s generally cordial between all the fighters. Masvidal is not the one. That’s why it’s called beef. He is not my favorite. There was a fight backstage and we both threw some shots. It was my hometown, London.

“But they took him and moved him and hid him and he fled my country and I haven’t seen him since. That was three years ago.”

Edwards’ unbeaten streak has been continued by Kamaru Usman, who Edwards defeated in the fifth round at UFC 278. This made Edwards the UFC welterweight champ. Masvidal, who has retaken the title of UFC welterweight champion, is now one of its biggest stars. He won a “BMF” championship belt in 2019, twice challenging Usman, and he also captured the “BMF” crown.

Edwards hopes to still fight Masvidal in sanctioned competitions.

” I can’t let this go,” Edwards stated. “This is was, like, three years ago. It has to be returned in either the octagon, or street .”

.

Edwards and Masvidal both are open to a matchup, Masvidal has recently asked Edwards to “step-up to the F plate”, but it is unlikely they will face each other anytime soon. Masvidal is currently dealing with legal problems after allegedly assaulting Colby Covington this past March and Edwards is expected to meet Usman in a trilogy bout.

Usman defeated Edwards in their first meeting in December 2015 before losing their rematch. Edwards anticipates that a third fight will be held at London’s Olympia Stadium. However, it is not yet confirmed.

” I’m looking forward to that,” Edwards stated. To headline the U.K. There are sixty thousand people trying for a ticket to a concert in stadia. It’s going to be big. I’m excited. This is the third time around. This is the third time. He defeated me by points the first time and I beat him the second. Now we’re going back home on my turf and my backyard.”
