Leon Edwards ready to fire Kamara Usman

Reigning UFC welterweight champion Leon Edwards is confident that he will not only be able to defend his title in an immediate rematch with Kamaru Usman, but also inflict a defeat on the Nigerian that will make him consider retirement.

“Mentally, we are very far from each other,” said the Briton, talking to reporters in London. “I feel that he is ready to leave, and I will open this door for him – give him the opportunity to go where he wants. In fact, I think he’s already crossed that threshold with one foot, and I’m going to give him a little push.”

“Now he talks about how he dominated me and wore me down in the previous fight, but no matter how that fight went, he was knocked out. That’s all that matters. He couldn’t hurt me, I wasn’t beaten – my biggest problem was fatigue, but even on my worst day, I beat him.”

Recall that the welterweight title fight will be the main event of the UFC 286 tournament, which will be held March 18 in London.
