The current UFC welterweight champion, Leond Edwards, who is due to enter the final match of the trilogy against Kamaru Usman in two months, is ready to fight Khamzat Chimaev after the duel with the Nigerian if the Chechen fighter wins the challenger fight.
“Khamzat is a good fighter, but he’s not the invincible monster that the UFC is building out of him,” Edwards said in an interview with Michael Bisping. “He’s a tough fighter, he’s good, but there’s always a way to beat these guys. That’s why I’m going on an eleven win streak. I don’t go out just to start a fight. I know exactly what to do and how to fight.”
“He is on my list, as are all the people I want to deal with. So let him make weight, fight Colby Covington or whatever, and we can do it.”
Recall that the welterweight title fight between Leon Edwards and Kamaru Usman will be the main event of the UFC 286 tournament, which will be held on March 18 in London, while Khamzat Chimaev does not yet have a scheduled fight.
