Leon Edwards has agreed to fight with Islam Makhachev

Reigning UFC welterweight champion Leon Edwards has agreed to fight three different opponents at UFC 300, one of which was the organization’s best fighter regardless of weight class, Islam Makhachev.

This was reported by Ariel Helwani, a well-known sports columnist, on the regular edition of the MMA Hour program.

According to the reporter’s version, the other two opponents with whom the Briton agreed to share the octagon were Shavkat Rakhmonov and Hamzat Chimaev, while Belal Muhammad was not offered a title fight at all.

This information is confirmed by informed sources close to the situation.

This past weekend, UFC head honcho, Dana White, responded the following about the reasons for Leon Edwards’ absence from the numbered anniversary event.

“Let me just say this – Leon Edwards has had three potential opponents during that time, and he’s never once said ‘no,'” the organization’s chief said at a press conference following the UFC 298 event in Anaheim. “This guy is absolute flint. He was offered three opponents at UFC 300 and he said ‘yes’ all three times. He was ready to fight anybody. Leon, thank you, big respect!”

As a reminder, UFC 300 will take place on April 13 in Las Vegas, and its main event will be a bantamweight title fight between Alex Pereira and Jamal Hill.
