Leon Edwards confirms fight with Kamaru Usman in London

Reigning UFC welterweight champion Leon Edwards has confirmed that the final matchup of the trilogy against Kamaru Usman will headline UFC 286 on March 18 in London.

“Yes, one hundred percent is what they told me and my team,” said the Briton in an interview with Michael Bisping. “I spoke to the UFC last week and they told me, ‘Yes, the fight is on, he is already preparing for it’. If something changes, we will act according to the situation, but now I am focused on completing the trilogy with Usman in London.”

In August last year, Leon Edwards shocked the world of mixed martial arts, 56 seconds before the end of the title fight with a kick to the head, knocking out Kamaru Usman, who had won the fight confidently until that moment. Thus, Edwards took revenge for the defeat of seven years ago, when he lost to the Nigerian by unanimous decision after three rounds.

A week ago, Usman’s manager, Ali Abdelaziz, dismissed rumors that a hand injury would prevent his protagonist from competing in March against Edwards.
