The main fight of the UFC Fight Night 187 tournament
After the massive UFC 259 event last Sunday this coming weekend in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, the #1 promotion will present a relatively modest UFC Fight Night 187 event. UFC Fight Night 187 has no real big names on the card, but this does not mean that there will be no interesting fights at the tournament.
In the headline card, strong welterweight Leon Edwards will have to face Belal Muhammad after his fight with Khamzat Chimaev fell through for the third time in a row.
#3 UFC Edwards last lost in 2015 at UFC on Fox 17, falling victim to future UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman. Rocky has been on an eight-game winning streak since then, except Leon hasn’t fought since July 2019, when he beat Rafael dos Anjos on points. Last year, Edwards lost two performances due to COVID-19: in March against Tyron Woodley in December against Chimaev.
Muhammad, since 2017, has won 8 out of 9 fights in the octagon, thanks to which he got into the top 15 of the ranking. In February at UFC 258, he extended his streak to four wins with a unanimous decision over Diego Lima.
Prediction for the fight
Edwards has always had a good physique, he is good on the ground, but still the rack can be called his bread. But being a technical puncher, Leon can hardly be considered a big puncher.
Muhammad is also a versatile fighter with a boxing bent, with a one-shot punch even weaker than Edwards.
We believe that the fight will mainly be fought in the stance, where the diverse and creative Edwards has a big advantage. Considering that both of them take a hit well and don’t hit very hard, the fight has every chance to go all the way.
