The new WBA featherweight world champion (up to 57.2 kg) Mauricio “Bronco” Lara (26-2-1, 19 KOs) spat on former two-fight opponent Josh Warrington (31-2-1, 8 KOs) after after winning mahach against Lee Wood in Nottingham (England) last weekend.
The 24-year-old Mexican knocked out the 34-year-old Englishman in the 7th round, climbed over the ropes of the ring and spat towards Warrington. The bully was dragged back, and it took several minutes to calm all the fuss.
“Of course,” Mauricio eagerly confirmed to iFL TV when asked if he actually spat at Warrington. We have personal graters. Of course it’s me [хочу драться с ним снова]. I will come for you! I’m going to knock him out and then he’ll retire.”
Here is Warrington’s version: “As soon as the fight was stopped, he looked back and saw me. He seems to have looked at me more than once during the fight. He pretended to leave the ring – and then spat. I don’t mind a little pantomime and screaming and all that, but if you get to the point of spitting, then go ahead without me. This is the lowest of the low deeds. Fucking bastard.”

According to him, the reason why Lara feels such animosity towards him is due to the alleged snub from Warrington after their rematch in September 2021, which ended in a technical draw after two rounds (Lara was declared unable to continue due to a cut in the area of u200bu200bthe left eye obtained from random head collisions).
A couple of years ago, Lara quite sensationally knocked out the former IBF champion in the 9th round.
Warrington: I’m not the fastest, strongest, smartest or most charismatic boxer, but…
For now, you may have to forget about the third fight: there was a rematch clause in the contract for the Lara-Wood fight. However, promoter Eddie Hearn suggested that Mauricio could still fight Josh in the next fight, with the winner already boxing Wood.
In 2022, Warrington described the feeling after the triumph: I want a cheeseburger, a beer and quickly get on my wife.
