The legendary Kazakhstani veteran Gennady Golovkin (42-2-1, 37 KOs) failed to take all the super middleweight titles from the antagonist from Mexico Saul Alvarez (58-2-2, 39 KOs), after which he decided to return to his native middleweight – He is the holder of WBA Super and IBF titles.
Both organizations require the veteran to conduct an immediate mandatory defense.
