Popular Chechen fighter Khamzat Chimaev reacted to the news that his opponent, Paulo Costa, will likely be suspended from UFC 294 due to elbow surgery the Brazilian underwent three weeks ago.
“Pavlovicburatina, what happened?” wrote “Borz” on social media, posting his own photo expressing bewilderment.
“Another surgery,” he added.
Earlier, the head of the UFC, Dana White, confirmed the information that the fight between Chimaev and Costa may be canceled due to the surgery that the Brazilian underwent three weeks ago. At the same time, the head of the organization said that they are already negotiating with fighters who could step in as replacements and meet “Borz”.
Currently, the seventh-ranked middleweight division’s number seven, Roman Dolidze, has already indicated his willingness to fight Chimaev on short notice, while former UFC title challenger, fifth-ranked Marvin Vettori, is rumored to have turned down the proposed bout.
