Khamzat Chimaev may become the opponent of Israel Adesanya

No. 9 ranked UFC middleweight, Khamzat Chimaev, is one of the potential candidates to fight former division champion, Israel Adesanya, who is scheduled to compete at the UFC 300 anniversary event.

The Nigerian’s trainer, Mike Angov, revealed this in an interview with Sky Sports.

“Izzy is back in the gym – who he fights is up to the UFC,” the New Zealand-based specialist said. “Obviously, the Izzy-Dricus fight is one of the options. We have to be ready for him. But we’re also ready for a potential fight with Sean Strickland, and we’re ready for a potential fight with Hamzat Chimaev. Those are the most obvious options that are on the table, but it’s not up to us to decide.”

The day before, the new UFC middleweight champion, Dricus Du Plessis, who took the title away from Sean Strickland a week ago, revealed that his participation in the anniversary event will depend on a medical exam he is set to undergo soon.

As a reminder, the UFC 300 event will take place on April 13 in Las Vegas, and remains without a main event for now.
