Khamzat Chimaev has asked the UFC for a bantamweight title fight

No. 8 ranked UFC middleweight Khamzat Chimaev wants Brazilian Alex Pereira, who holds the UFC bantamweight title, as his next opponent.

The Chechen fighter announced this in a social network, addressing the head of the world’s strongest league.

“Dana White, let me finish him off!”,” Borz wrote, posting a photo of his potential opponent.

At the moment, Khamzat Chimayev is still recovering from the hand injury he sustained in his challenger fight against Kamaru Usman, and in a recent interview the Chechen said that he would like his next fight to take place before Ramadan.

According to the UFC’s plan, Chimaev’s next fight is to face the winner of a title fight between Sean Strickland and Dricus Du Plessis to headline UFC 297 in Toronto on Jan. 20, but then “Borz” won’t be back in the octagon for another six months at the earliest.

Former UFC middleweight champion Alex Pereira won the vacant UFC welterweight championship belt a week ago, finishing former division champion Jiri Prohazka by technical knockout in the second round.
