UFC welterweight number three, Khamzat Chimaev, has shared his thoughts on a potential fight against Colby Covington that is rumored to be in development next spring.
“I think the Colby fight will be a lot easier than Gilbert because I was so fixated on knocking him out with Gilbert that I forgot about the fight plan and the timing,” the Borz told ESPN. “However, I’m glad the fight turned out this way because it teaches you to be smarter and next time I’ll think twice before doing stupid things and running after an opponent.”
The Chechen fighter is confident that his confrontation with the American will not go all the way and will end ahead of schedule.
“Colby is not a guy like Gilbert. I can take him down, submit him, knock him out. Usman dropped it, Masvidal dropped it, so why shouldn’t I? If I hit him, he’s guaranteed a long sleep.”
