Khamzat Chimaev addressed the fans

Popular Chechen fighter Khamzat Chimayev, who is recovering from surgery on his hand, addressed his fans, explaining why he had to postpone his return to the octagon and promising to resume training in the near future.

“I was very sick, my arm was injured, so I couldn’t come back right away,” Borz wrote on social media in Russian, posting a series of hospital photos. “I want to tell all the fans – I want to see myself in the fight more than all of you. I love this job, I will do and prove that I am the best, as always we do it, and I will be back to training soon.”

Chimaev also published a video in which he addressed his fans already in English.

“I feel good. Soon I will come back for my championship belt!”, – stated the fighter.

Undefeated Khamzat Chimaev is riding a seven-fight win streak in the world’s strongest league, the most recent of which came last October at UFC 294 in Abu Dhabi, defeating former UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman by majority judge vote.

The 29-year-old Chechen then withdrew from his bout with reigning middleweight champion Sean Strickland due to a hand injury, giving up his title shot to South African Dricus Du Plessis, who will challenge the American on Jan. 20 at UFC 297 in Toronto.
