Khabib Nurmagomedov rejected an unprecedented offer from the UFC

Former UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov refused to resume his professional career two years ago, rejecting a forty million dollar offer from the world’s strongest league.

This was reported by friend and teammate of the Russian, Daniel Cormier, in the next edition of his podcast, commenting on the rumors of a possible return of the undefeated fighter.

“Khabib told us he turned down a forty million dollar offer from the UFC,” the American stated. “This dude said, ‘forty million dollars, bro.’ I don’t know if it was for one fight, or multiple fights. He just said, ‘I turned down forty million dollars, bro – I’m done.’ I don’t know what would make him come back now, considering the amount he turned down two years ago.”

Last week, the Russian’s coach, Javier Mendes, was forced to deny rumors that his charge had begun training for the UFC 300 tournament, which is supposedly set to include a meeting with current UFC welterweight champion Leon Edwards.

Khabib Nurmagomedov later personally stated that he had no plans to come out of retirement and participate in the anniversary event, which will take place on April 13 in Las Vegas.
