Hall of Famer and former UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov has ruled out the possibility that he could resume his professional career and return to the octagon.
“It’s out of the question – I ended my career and made a promise to my mother,” MMAJunkie quotes the undefeated Russian. “This question, the conversation between me and my mother, became very famous, but there were many other things that people do not know about. Not only this promise. As for my mother, I follow not only this promise, but everything connected with her. You can have many friends, children, anyone, but you will never have another mother. You have only one mother, and for me she is everything.
“I love her for millions and millions of reasons. I know that many people, including those in Dagestan, have a bad relationship with their parents. I really don’t understand this. How can people have bad relationships with their parents? So yes, my mom is everything to me. Even now she still lives in the same house with me and I treat her like a queen.”
The issue of Khabib Nurmagomedov’s return came up again last week when the Russian’s former rival, Conor McGregor, challenged him to a rematch and promised to slap him in the face.
