Former UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov congratulated the incumbent Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on his re-election, who defeated opposition candidate Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu in the second round of elections last Sunday.
“We were watching. Congratulations!” the UFC Hall of Famer wrote on social media, posting a joint photo with the head of Turkey.
Recall that the meeting between Nurmagomedov and Erdogan took place in October 2018 during the grand opening of a new airport in Istanbul. The undefeated Russian fighter was introduced to the President of Turkey, with whom he shook hands and exchanged a few phrases.
Three weeks before the meeting with Erdogan, Khabib Nurmagomedov successfully defended the championship belt in a duel against Conor McGregor, finally establishing himself in the status of a mixed martial arts superstar.
