Former contender for the interim UFC lightweight championship belt, Kevin Lee, who unsuccessfully returned to the world’s strongest league after a two-year break at the beginning of this month, announced his retirement.
“I am ending my career in the UFC, but I can’t find the right words to use in the video,” the American fighter wrote on the social network. “There’s more to life than fighting”
On July 1 at UFC on ESPN 48 in Las Vegas, Kevin Lee made an unsuccessful debut in the UFC welterweight division, losing to Russian Rinat Fakhretdinov by guillotine choke in the 55th second of the fight.
In February of this year, the 30-year-old American signed a new contract with the strongest league in the world, which he left in 2021 on a two-losing streak. Last March, Kevin Lee got his career back on track with a unanimous decision win over Diego Sanchez at Eagle FC 46.
The American fighter, who made his debut in the UFC in 2014, has early victories over Magomed Mustafaev, Michael Chiesa, Edson Barboza and Gregor Gillespie, and in October 2017, Lee made an unsuccessful attempt to win the interim UFC lightweight championship belt, losing by triangle choke in the third round to Tony Ferguson.
