UFC 256 tournament bout

The seventh UFC tournament in a row will take place at the home mini-arena of the UFC Apex promotion in Las Vegas (Nevada, USA), behind closed doors. As usual, the UFC 256 PPV event leads the title fight.

On the main card, former Strikeforce middleweight champion Souza will return to his native 185-pound division to restart his career against a young and hungry Holland.

Souza, who celebrated his 41st birthday this month, contracted COVID-19 in the spring and has therefore not fought yet this year. “Jacare” will return after an unsuccessful debut in light heavyweight, in November 2019 he lost a split decision to future UFC champion Jan Blachowicz, which was the third defeat for the Brazilian veteran in his last four fights.

Holland is 28 years old and his performance at UFC 256 will be his fifth appearance in the octagon in 2020. From May to October, the Californian defeated Anthony Hernandez, Joaquin Buckley, Darren Stewart and Charlie Ontiveros. And only Stewart was not knocked out.

Prediction for the fight

Souza came to MMA from BJJ, where he was a world-class star. Ronaldo has a rich arsenal of Muay Thai punches and killer punches, while remaining one of the most dangerous grapplers in the UFC middle division. Holland has black belts in kung fu and BJJ, but is still more of a puncher.

Sousa will be the most dangerous on the ground, especially at the start of the fight, when he will still have a lot of strength. But still, let’s assume that Holland, due to his striking skills and height advantage, will be able to stay at a safe distance for himself and avoid his opponent’s takedowns. Since Souza has only finished once in the last 12 years, this fight should go all three rounds.
