Former world welterweight champion American Keith Thurman (30-1, 22 KOs) is ready to have a rematch with ex-champion in two categories, compatriot Danny Garcia (37-3, 21 KOs), who successfully debuted in a new one at the end of last week weight up to 69.9 kg and defeated Jose Benavidez on points.

Recall that in March 2017, Thurman won a unification fight for the WBC / WBA titles against Garcia on points by a split decision.

“Waiting for a phone call,” Keith says. “They told me that Danny Garcia wants a rematch. Well, I do not know. Danny can never pass Keith Thurman’s test. I beat this guy, even when I didn’t feel 100%. I then had an operation.

“In general, I am ready. I don’t know when he is going to return to the ring. And in general, I’m surprised that it took him so long to talk about revenge, ”he continues. – I doubt that Danny will become stronger at the new weight, he was already a puncher. In fact, I don’t think that the decision to move up in weight will bring him any dividends, except that he will no longer have to worry about cutting. As for me, some are just lazy, but this is purely my opinion.

“I just think I know how to beat Danny Garcia. But they hardly have a real strategy or the ability to cope with what I’m good at. This is chess, and I am a grandmaster,” Thurman concluded.

We add that Keith himself successfully resumed his career in February of this year, winning by decision over Mario Barrios. This was his first performance since July 2019.

Meanwhile, Garcia revealed why he was on the sidelines for 20 months.
