Keep the chic candidate for the title of “Fighter of the Year” – this is Natasha Jonas

Manchester Arena, Manchester, UK. In a unification bout in the first middleweight (up to 69.9 kg), local WBC / WBO champion Natasha Jonas (13-2-1, 8 KOs) and IBF title holder Marie-Yves Dicker (18-1, 2 KOs) from Canada met .

Both are lefties. Jonas is faster, more technical and moves better. The beginning of the duel followed her – she hit twice on the approach. Dicker responded by ratcheting up the intensity of the fight. She is obviously trying to impose a more forceful confrontation – she is much larger.

Bang on the button @TashaJonas simply can’t miss when she winds up her power shots #FightNightManchester | Nov 12 | AO Arena, Manchester | @SkySportsBoxing

Jonas caught an unbalanced Deeker in the 2nd round – she almost got knocked down. In response, the guest hit the back of the head. The referee has so far limited himself to a warning. Natasha jabs well, and Marie-Yves tries to pull out the endings of the rounds – she constantly raises her activity and pace 30 seconds before the gong. However, there is little efficiency.

Much better from Dicker in the 5th round: pinned Jonas against the ropes, worked in series. The champions staged a nice and tough exchange. Good fight. In the 6th three-minute period, the British began to punch hard on the body, twice in time checked the opponent’s handle with uppercuts. What a timely response.

Trading at will! High quality action from @TashaJonas and Marie-Eve Dicaire #FightNightManchester | Nov 12 | AO Arena, Manchester | @SkySportsBoxing

Excellent 7th round from Jonas. It is much more precise and efficient. Dicare is hard to press because of these accented body shots – they are very disturbing to her. In the 8th three-minute period, it became even harder – Marie-Eve had a broken nose.

Dicker is a good guy. Very aggressive and powerful pressing until the end of the fight, the pace is turned up to the limit. But she definitely lost. And, to be honest, before the fight it seemed that the British would be much more difficult. Incredible performance from Jonas.

The score of the judges: 100-90, 98-92 and 97-93 in favor of the British.

Jonas UD 10.

Jonas, by the way, can very well win the Women’s Fighter of the Year nomination. Yes, she has solid rivals (primarily Kathy Taylor and Clarissa Shields), but this year the British woman (after two unsuccessful attempts to take the belt at 59 and 61.2 kg in 2020-2021) immediately rose to 69.9 kg. First took the WBO belt (
Chris Namus), then added WBC (
Patricia Berghult), and now added an IBF title to the collection. Agree, a solid claim.
