Former champion George Kambosos (20-1, 10 KOs) claims that 12 rounds of a lost fight with Devin Haney (28-0, 15 KOs) told him what he needed to tighten up and how to draw up a battle plan to get even with the American offender in the autumn rematch.
Haney came to Australia yesterday and easily outboxed Kambosos. Having done this, he became the undisputed lightweight champion (up to 61.2 kg). George has the right to an immediate rematch, written in the contract for the first fight.
“I know what I need to do to beat him in a rematch,” Kambosos said shortly after the loss. “We had a plan for the fight, but I couldn’t execute it the way I wanted.”
