Kamaru Usman left the top five UFC fighters

Former UFC welterweight champion, Kamaru Usman, who was the top fighter in the organization seven months ago, dropped to number eight on the P4P UFC list after losing a title rematch with Leon Edwards.

Moving down three places, the Nigerian, who rounded out the top five in the pound-for-pound rankings, allowed Israel Adesanya, Alex Pereira and Aljamain Sterling to move up one spot to fifth, sixth and seventh, respectively.

At the same time, Leon Edwards, who defeated Kamaru Usman by a majority of judges’ votes at UFC 286 in London, remained in fourth place in the list of the organization’s best fighters, failing to displace Islam Makhachev from third place.

Despite the defeat, in the UFC welterweight rankings, the Nigerian fighter remained in his position and continues to occupy the first line in the division.

Recall that the title fight, which led the organization’s numbered British event last weekend, went all the way and ended in Edwards’ victory with a score of 48-46 twice and 47-47. Last August, “Rocky” shocked the world of mixed martial arts by knocking out Usman in the fifth round and depriving him of the UFC welterweight championship belt.

According to the UFC plan, the next opponent of Leon Edwards will be American Colby Covington, who occupies the second line in the division ranking.
