Kamaru Usman challenged Khamzat Chimaev

Former UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman is hoping that Khamzat Chimaev, who plans to fight next in the middleweight division, will stay in the division to share the octagon with him.

“I think Leon Edwards will hold the title,” the Nigerian told ESPN. “I continue to consider myself the best in the world in this division. Who is number two? Colby? He will fight Leon. Who is the third? Khamzat. I think I should fight Khamzat, and if Leon continues to win, we will have a fourth fight.”

In August last year, Kamaru Usman lost the UFC championship belt to Leon Edwards by a fifth-round knockout, and seven months later he was defeated in an immediate rematch with the British, whom he lost by a majority of the judges’ votes.

Khamzat Chimaev is on a six win streak in the UFC and is rumored to have his next fight on October 21 at UFC 294 in Abu Dhabi against Brazilian Paulo Costa.
