Kai Kara-France has been eliminated from the UFC 293 tournament roster

Former interim UFC flyweight title challenger Kai Kara-France has dropped out of the UFC 293 event, which was scheduled to face Manel Capa.

According to the New Zealander, he suffered a concussion in training that prevents him from returning to the octagon in three weeks.

“Unfortunately I had to withdraw from my fight at UFC 293 in Sydney, Australia,” Kara-France wrote on social media. “I suffered a concussion in training this past weekend. We discussed it with my coaches, team, and my family, and everyone agreed that the best decision was to put my health first.”

It is not yet known if Kape will remain on the event’s card, or leave the event following his eliminated opponent.

New Zealander Kai Kara-France, 30, suffered two straight defeats, losing by technical knockout to Brandon Moreno in an interim title bout, and by split decision to Amir Albazi.

As a reminder, UFC 293 will take place on September 9, with the main event being a middleweight title fight between Israel Adesanya and Sean Strickland.
