Former heavyweight leader Briton Anthony Joshua (24-3, 22 KOs) suffered two defeats from Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk (20-0, 13 KOs) and risks losing the third fight in a row – he accepted the offer of WBC champion compatriot Tyson Fury (32-0-1 , 23 KOs) to face off on December 3rd.
In this regard, fans and experts are divided into two camps: the first believe that Joshua risks completely ruining his career in this way, and the second believe that it is strictly forbidden to refuse such a chance.
Opinion cool local expert Spencer Oliver: “I think that there is not even anything to think about. Joshua has two defeats in a row to Usyk. And then he is offered such a fight. Yes, it’s like a gift from heaven! What is Joshua thinking about? It is clear that he did everything the way he was supposed to do – he accepted the fight. He had a chance to fight the man most experts consider the leader of the heavyweight. He had a chance to finally get the same fight, which had previously taken 3 years to organize. And it went down the drain. And, of course, this is an opportunity to amuse the fans. And for Joshua himself, this is a gift – a chance to return to the top in one fell swoop.
The expert was nevertheless asked to assess Joshua’s prospects in the event of a third defeat in a row: “He will have to return to his headquarters for a while, evaluate all the options and decide what to do next. He wants clear answers. Does he want to continue boxing, does he have motivation. Is he ready to go through the recovery process from beginning to end, because this is actually a long way. This is a serious dilemma and even, perhaps, a gamble.”
Spencer recalls that “Joshua is not just a two-time world champion. He has achieved everything. He wants only great fights. And what could be more of a fight with Fury?
Meanwhile, the formidable veteran Luis Ortiz for some reason challenged Fury and Joshua, and the outrageous expert Teddy Atlas believes that Joshua has always been overestimated, Fury will delay him.
