Josh Emmett challenged Max Holloway.

Coming off a spectacular victory over Bryson Mitchell late last year, former UFC interim featherweight title challenger Josh Emmett wants to see former division champion Max Holloway as his next opponent.

“I want to get back to the title, that’s my goal,” the American said on another edition of the JAXXON podcast. “And I’m going to do everything I can to become world champion. In my opinion, the surest way to get a title shot, and it’s going to be a tough fight, is to fight Max Holloway. He’s the number one contender and it’s the right fight at the right time. That’s what I want.”

“He’s been a phenomenal champion both in and out of the octagon. He’s a big name and he’s cleaned up the whole division. He’s fought everybody but me. Let’s do it!”

By knocking Mitchell out in the first round, Emmett closed out his two losses to Yair Rodriguez and Elijah Topuria.

“I wanted to end the year on a high note. The year 2023 was not an easy year. At the beginning of the year I fought for the interim title, then I had a tough fight with Elijah Topuria, who is now fighting for the belt. I needed to get back on the winning track at all costs, and I didn’t care who they put up against me”

Max Holloway won two fights in a row last year, defeating Arnold Allen by decision and knocking out Korean Zombie. It is rumored that “Blessed” may fight BMF lightweight titleholder Justin Gaethje in April.
