Jorge Masvidal Calls Gilbert Burns Candidate Fight

With a win over Gilbert Burns, former UFC welterweight title contender Jorge Masvidal is looking to get another title shot.

“I fight Gilbert and then I fight Leon,” the American said in an interview with MMA Junkie. “I tell you how things will be. I just got insider information”

Earlier, defending the title against the former street fighter was announced by the reigning division champion, Leon Edwards, who was outraged by Colby Covington’s title chance.

“I’ll take Gilbert so bad that everyone will beg me to fight Leon. I know that Leon is not an idiot. He defended the title and he knows that a guy like me, in addition to personal animosity, can significantly increase pay-per-view sales. It will be epic. Classic cinematic ending for me and everyone associated with me”

In March 2019, there was a skirmish between the fighters backstage at UFC Fight Night 147 in London, during which Edwards received a serious cut, and in 2021 Masvidal was injured and dropped out of the fight with the British.

Recall that the fight between Jorge Masvidal and Gilbert Burns will be the second most important event of the UFC 287 tournament, which will be held April 8 in Miami.
