Jon Jones made a statement after undergoing another surgery

If anyone is hoping that the world’s strongest league is preparing for Jon Jones’ return at the UFC 300 anniversary event, they’ll have to say goodbye to that idea, as the reigning UFC heavyweight champion has undergone another surgery that will keep him from training for the next two and a half months.

The American fighter, who decided to get rid of bone spurs in his left elbow, told his fans in a video posted on social media an hour after undergoing the procedure.

“The good news is that the healing process will take about ten weeks, and since I’m going to be out for a few months anyway due to thoracic surgery, I figured I might as well kill two birds with one stone and deal with this elbow once and for all,” Jones said. “I’m back on the road to recovery, still on the road to recovery. Sometimes you have to take a small step back to move forward, and I’m patient.”

Jon Jones was scheduled to make his title defense against Stipe Miocic on Nov. 11 at UFC 295 in New York, but tore a pectoral muscle two weeks before the event and was forced to undergo surgery, and the organization drew the interim title, which was held by Briton Tom Aspinall, who knocked out Russian Sergey Pavlovic in 69 seconds.

UFC head Dana White made it clear that the American will retain the title and hold a postponed fight against his compatriot as soon as he can return to the octagon, while Aspinall will defend the interim belt against one of the top fighters in the division.
