Jon Jones: 'Cyril Gun only fought clumsy boxers'

The contender for the vacant UFC heavyweight championship, Jon Jones, believes that his opponent, Cyril Gun, rose to the top of the rankings only because he met in the UFC only with convenient opponents.

“I just rewatched my fight with Thiago Santos and it’s crazy if you think Cyril Gan is the most technical kickboxer I’ve ever faced,” Jones wrote on the social media. “Everything that Thiago did was aimed at inflicting maximum damage. At the same time, the dude had lightning speed, power – he was explosive and incredibly diverse.

“Gan’s last three opponents had terrible defense. These guys couldn’t stop a kick even if their lives depended on it. In his last three fights, he has only fought clumsy boxers. The best fighter he ever fought was Francis and that’s just crazy.”

Recall that the fight for the interim UFC heavyweight title between Jon Jones and Cyril Gan will be the main event of the UFC 285 tournament, which will be held on March 4 in Las Vegas.
