John McCarthy gave his prediction for Vadim Nemkov’s heavyweight debut

Legendary referee John McCarthy, who is a commentator and host of the analytical podcast, shared his opinion on the upcoming fight between Russian Vadim Nemkov and Brazilian Bruno Cappelozza, in which the former Bellator champion will make his heavyweight debut.

“Vadim Nemkov moves up to heavyweight by vacating the Bellator bantamweight title, and Bruno Cappelozza is not the current PFL champion, but he was champion the season before,” “Big” John said on another edition of his podcast. “I like Bruno Cappelozza as a fighter, he’s a fierce puncher, he’s interesting to watch in the stand up, but he doesn’t perform at his best in the parterre”

“Cappelozza’s speed made him special, but he won’t be more speedy than Nemkov this time around – they’ll be about the same. I see that as a potential problem for Cappelozza because he won’t be able to work ahead.”

“As for the fight, the difference in levels here is just gigantic – if Nemkov moves Cappelozza, he’ll control him and won’t let him stand up. Cappelozza has to be wary of Nemkov’s takedowns, as well as his quick and dangerous high kicks”

“I don’t agree that Nemkov has cardio issues, but the lack of weight training will favor his fitness and stamina. I think Nemkov will have a significant advantage in this fight.”

Recall that the heavyweight fight between Vadim Nemkov and Bruno Cappelozza will be part of the joint Bellator and PFL tournament, which will take place on February 24 in the Saudi capital Riyadh.
