Long-term UFC commentator and host of one of the most popular podcasts in the world, Joe Rogan, is confident that the judges robbed Alexander Volkanovski in a fight against Islam Makhachev, giving the Russian a unanimous decision victory.
“Islam lost, one hundred percent. I believe he lost 3-2 in rounds. It just sucks. One of the judges gave 49-46 and it’s just kind of crazy, ”Rogan said in the next episode of his podcast after the announcement of the result of the fight that led the UFC 284 tournament in Perth.
According to the final protocol, two judges decided that the Australian took the third and fifth rounds, while their third colleague saw Volkanovski’s advantage only in the final five minutes.
Recall that the superfight that took place was the first successful defense of a Russian holding the UFC lightweight title, and the Australian put the title of the best fighter in the world, regardless of the weight category, on the line.
