Joe Rogan has called for a change in the rules of MMA

UFC commentator and host of one of the most popular podcasts in the world, Joe Rogan, believes that MMA rules are designed more for strikers than fighters and should be changed.

“The rules are made more for strikers than fighters,” Rogan said on another edition of his podcast. “I’ve said this many times before. Let’s say you’re a jitzer, and you’ve been holding your opponent down for four and a half minutes in the first round. You’ve only got thirty seconds left because there’s going to be a break, and you’re going to start the next round back in the stand-up again.”

“Even if we have rounds, a fight is a fight and I don’t think anyone should have the opportunity to just stand up. I don’t think the ref should bring up the rack. If someone moves you, you should stand up yourself.”

“If it’s boring to the audience, that’s their problem. If you’re down, get up. If you can’t get up, that’s your problem. And when a round ends, fighters should start the next one from the same position they were in at the time of the break signal.”

In addition, Rogan believes that mixed martial arts should return to ten-minute rounds like the legendary PRIDE organization.

Note that earlier Joe Rogan repeatedly criticized the scoring system, which came to MMA from boxing.
