Joanna Jedrzejczyk will be inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame

Former UFC featherweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk, who announced the end of her career two years ago, will become the second woman inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame.

“Joanna is one of the greatest female athletes in the history of combat sports,” UFC CEO Dana White said in a press release. “She is an amazing person, was an incredible champion, and is a true role model in women’s mixed martial arts as well as an absolute killer in the octagon.”

“She has fought the best of the best in her division and has never backed down in front of her opponents. Yoanna is one of the toughest athletes we’ve seen and we would be honored to induct her into the UFC Hall of Fame this summer at International Fight Week.”

Joanna Jedrzejczyk debuted in the organization in July 2014, eight months later she became the UFC featherweight champion by knocking out Carla Esparza, followed by five successful defenses of the championship belt until losing by technical knockout to Rose Namajunas in 2017.

In December 2018, the Polish representative attempted to win the UFC flyweight championship belt, losing by unanimous decision to Valentina Shevchenko in five rounds.

Joanna Jedrzejczyk, 36, ended her career after two losses to Weili Zhang, first losing to the Chinese woman by split decision and then losing to her by knockout in the second round.
