Jiri Prohazka named the date of the fight with Aleksandar Rakic

Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jiri Prohazka is ready to replace the injured Jan Blachowicz in a fight against Aleksandar Rakic, but prefers to share the octagon with the Austrian not in February, but in March of next year.

“You said February or March. I agreed and offered you February 17, after which you went silent. Where is your samurai code now? Sign the contract, big boy, sign the contract,” Rakic wrote on social media, referring to Prochazka.

“March 9, Miami?” the Czech fighter replied.

The bantamweight fight between Aleksandar Rakic and Jan Blachowicz was supposed to take place on Jan. 20 at UFC 297 in Toronto, but the Pole injured his shoulder and pulled out of the bout, and the Austrian offered the Czech to step in as a replacement.

Last May, Aleksandar Rakic was unable to continue his fight with Jan Blachowicz after suffering a knee injury in the third round and has not returned to the octagon since, while Jiri Prochazka made a failed attempt to regain his championship belt a month ago at UFC 295 in New York, losing by TKO in the second round to Alex Pereira.

As a reminder, UFC 298: Volkanovski vs Topuria will take place in Anaheim on February 17, and on March 9, the organization will visit Miami with the numbered event UFC 299: O’Malley vs Vera 2.
