Jiri Prochazka reacts to Alex Pereira's move to light heavyweight

Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jiri Prochazka is thrilled to hear that former UFC middleweight title holder Alex Pereira will continue his career in his division.

“He’s good on the stand, he has a lot of skills and I’m looking forward to seeing him in our division because he’s tall and a great fit for him,” the Czech fighter told LowKick MMA. “I’m glad to see such guys among us, because he is very good, and this is a new opportunity to show our best qualities”

Prochazka, who vacated the championship belt due to injury late last year, plans to return to the octagon in late summer or early autumn and challenge Jamal Hill, who won the vacant title in his absence.

“I need another one or two months to fully restore my physical condition and start full-fledged training. After that, I will be able to improve my style, take it to another level where no other opponent in my division can compete with me. With that said, I plan to come back in August/September and fight for the championship belt.”

Earlier, UFC president Dana White said that Alex Pereira would not get an immediate light heavyweight title shot and would face one of the division’s top fighters.
