Amanda Lemos — the No. 9 strawweight MMA Fighting’s Global Rankings — faced Jessica Andrade, a former champion in strawweight and one-time challenger for the title of flyweight at UFC APEX Las Vegas. Lemos and Andrade were two of the best finishers in women’s MMA. Lemos had defeated three of her opponents during a 5-fight winning streak, while Andrade finished seven of her opponents.
It was another statement win for Andrade, who bullied Lemos against the fence before attacking with a standing arm-triangle submission. Lemos tapped at the 3:13 mark of the first round, making Andrade the first fighter to win via standing arm-triangle in UFC history. Amanda Nunes tied her for most UFC victories (14) as a female fighter.
