Jared Cannonier will take on Roman Dolidze in a bantamweight bout

After losing his fight with Derek Brunson, UFC middleweight No. 7 Roman Dolidze has a chance to make a loud statement in a potential contender’s bout against Jared Cannonier, ranked No. 4 in the division’s rankings.

The middleweight bout, which will take place on December 2, is being reported by ESPN.

Roman Dolidze, 35, had his four-fight win streak snapped in March when he lost by unanimous decision to Marvin Vettori.

Last July, Jared Cannonier made an unsuccessful attempt to take the championship belt from Israel Adesanya, losing to the Nigerian by unanimous decision over five rounds. The 39-year-old American has since reeled off two straight wins, winning a split decision over Sean Strickland and a unanimous decision over Marvin Vettori, and two weeks ago Cannonier officially insured the title fight between Adesanya and Strickland.

The bout between the top middleweights will reportedly not be the main event of the event.
