Jared Cannonier named the condition of the fight with Khamzat Chimaev

UFC middleweight No. 4 Jared Cannonier, who was once named as a likely opponent for Hamzat Chimaev, doesn’t rule out that he could face the Chechen fighter in his next fight.

“My managers did not negotiate this fight with the UFC,” the American said on another edition of Joe Rogan’s podcast. “It was just a rumor, but after that I started to think that our fight with Hamzat was a possibility. Then they announced his fight with Costa, and that was the end of the matter.”

“I don’t know what’s next yet – I want to fight for the title, or at least get a challenger fight. In a contender fight I could fight Dricus Du Plessis, Robert Whittaker, or the winner of the Chimaev-Costa fight”

The middleweight fight between Hamzat Chimaev and Paulo Costa will take place on October 21 at UFC 294 in Abu Dhabi, and Jared Cannonier is one of the candidates to fight Sean Strickland, who sensationally defeated Israel Adesanya a week ago to become the division’s new champion.
