A light heavyweight bout between Jan Blachowicz & Aleksandar Rasic has been moved to the UFC Fight Night card, which will take place in Las Vegas on May 14.

Following an initial report by Ariel Helwani, multiple people who are aware of the plans for the promotion confirmed that the information was correct to MMA Fighting.

The fight was originally expected to take place in March but Blachowicz was forced out of the contest with an injury. Now healthy and ready to compete again, Blachowicz will return in May with hopes of getting back into title contention following his loss to reigning UFC light heavyweight champion Glover Teixeira this past October.

Prior to this loss Blachowicz had won five straight victories, including knockouts against Corey Anderson (and Dominick Reyes) and a victory over Israel Adesanya. This was a rare champion vs. champ fight.

Rakic will be looking to win a significant victory that would finally propel him to a UFC championship fight.

With a 6-1 record overall, Rakic has been a top tier fighter in the light heavyweight division for quite some time but he took a huge step forward with back-to-back wins over Anthony Smith and Thiago Santos.

Rakic now plans to defeat Blachowicz on May in hopes of possibly getting a shot at JiriProchazka, the winner of their upcoming title fight scheduled for UFC 275 June 11..

With Blachowicz taking on Rakic as the main event set, there will be more fights added to the May 14 cards in the coming weeks.
