A day after the fight with Magomed Ankalaev, which ended in a draw, Jan Blachowicz no longer thinks that the Russian fighter should have been given the vacant championship belt.
“Let me clarify something,” the Pole wrote on the social network. “First of all, I really don’t think the fight was terrible. Second, I don’t feel like I’ve won, but I don’t feel like I’ve lost either. The draw was fair.”
According to Blachowicz, he will not approve of the way his opponent behaved and said after the fight.
“The end result is one dude crying and talking about alleged injuries and another dude showing that honor is still part of the game. I’m glad the fans see it and appreciate it.”
Recall that the light heavyweight title fight, which led the UFC 282 tournament in Las Vegas, went the whole distance and ended in a draw by a separate judicial decision, which left the championship belt vacant, vacated by the injured Jiri Prochazka.
At a post-event press conference, UFC president Dana White revealed that Glover Teixeira and Jamal Hill would decide the new division champion on January 21 at UFC 283 in Rio de Janeiro.
