Jan Blachowicz has pulled out of his fight against Aleksandar Rakic

Former UFC bantamweight champion, Jan Blachowicz, has pulled out of his upcoming fight against Aleksandar Rakic, which was scheduled to take place on Jan. 20 at UFC 297 in Toronto.

The Austrian fighter announced the news on social media, offering to step in as a replacement for another former titleholder, Jiri Prochazka.

“You will never lose a rematch if you refuse to fight a second time. Legendary nonsense. Let’s see if Samurai has the guts to come out as a replacement on January 20,” Rakic wrote.

Jan Blachowicz has not yet commented on this information.

Last May, Aleksandar Rakic was unable to continue his fight with Jan Blachowicz after suffering a knee injury in the third round and has not returned to the octagon since. Prior to that, the Austrian had two straight wins, winning unanimous decisions over Anthony Smith and Thiago Santos.

The main event of UFC 297 will be a middleweight title fight between American Sean Strickland and South African Dricus Du Plessis.
