An injury forced Jan Blachowicz, former UFC light-heavyweight champion, to pull out of the UFC Columbus show. The March 26 card will be without a headliner.
A person who was aware of the plans for the promotion told MMA Fighting Blachowicz’s fight against Aleksandar Racic will be rescheduled at a later time. MMA Cultura reported first the news. UFC Columbus takes place at Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio.
The nature of Blachowicz’s timetable for return is currently unknown. The bout was to be the ex-champ’s first appearance since a submission loss to Glover Teixeira cost him the title at UFC 267 this past October. He had previously lost to Israel Adesanya, the middleweight champion in MMA.
Meanwhile,
Rakic will have to wait longer before he can present his case for the title shot. The 29-year-old fighter from Vienna has won six of his seven UFC bouts including his two most recent fights in meetings with Anthony Smith and Thiago Santos, respectively.
A flyweight bout between Askar Askarov and Kai Kara-France is currently scheduled on the UFC Columbus card. The promotion is yet to announce a new fight or promote a top-billed matchup.
